Holiday Gift Guide: Practical Gifts for Every Traveler

It's that time of year again!  Are you looking for the perfect gift for that jet setter of the family?  I've put together a list of some of my favorite practical (and also unique) gifts that travelers will really appreciate!  Dear Santa, I hope you are reading this and taking detailed notes...

For the Frequent Jet Setter:

TSA Precheck, Global Entry or CLEAR

The gift that keeps on giving...for about 5 years!  If they are a frequent international traveler I recommend Global Entry, it is about $100, includes TSA precheck and is good for 5 years.  TSA Pre-check is about $85 (also good for 5 years).  TSA is really great for frequent domestic travelers.  CLEAR is a step above that lets you bypass the TSA Pre-check line.  Fancy.   I don't have it, but I've heard great things from other travelers.  It is a monthly subscription.  Obviously they will have to enroll and apply themselves, but it's something they'll appreciate every time they're flying and get to bypass those long security lines!

For Every Traveler:

Airline Ticket/Upgrade

There are some great flight deals this time of year and even after the holidays.   Here's a list of great sources for finding flight deals!  Also consider paying for an upgrade to business or first class!

For the Adventurer:

Tour or Experience

if you know someone is going to a specific destination, why not give them a incredible experience to remember while they’re there?  What would be really special and unique about where they are headed? Think about what they really love to do! Are they Adventurous? Do they want to learn more about the history and culture?  Trip Advisor or Viator is a great place to start searching!  Check out this post and this post for a few fun tour ideas!

For the Foodie:

Dinner at a nice restaurant,  a Cooking Class, Food or Wine Tour

What a great and memorable gift!  Viator is a great place to look.   For a few of my favorite wine tours check out my post on Santorini and Santa Barbara Wine Country

For the Luxury Traveler:

Spa package or treatment

This is something I would never buy for myself, but if you really want to spoil someone, treat them to a little pampering!  Either in their destination or a local spa!

For the Skier:

Lift Tickets or a Season Pass

For the those heading to the slopes this winter! If you are close to the major ski resorts (#jealous) this would be a fabulous gift!  Info here about Lift Tickets for some the resorts in Western US.  Info here for skiing in Europe.   I have only skied at Vail so far, but I'm  obsessed!

For the Curious Traveler:

Magazine Subscription to Their Favorite Travel Magazine

Conde Nast Traveler or National Geographic Traveler.  Both are currently offering Black Friday deals!

For the Outdoor Lover:

National Parks Annual Pass or Gift Card to REI for great gear they can choose!

For the Adrenaline Junkie:

Action Camera

Here's a list of a few great ones!

For the Penny Pincher:

Uber Gift Card- Rides to the Airport!  Practical, and they'll appreciate it trust me!

Airbnb Gift Card - another one they'll love! If you go to your Airbnb profile, scroll the the gift card to section to purchase!

For the Shutterbug:

Online Photography Course (here's a link to Creative Live) or local course in your city!  If you're in Atlanta, I highly recommend the Atlanta School of Photography.  I have taken most of their courses, and the instructors are wonderful!

Subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud (Lightroom and Photoshop).  I use the basic Photography package which is $9.99/month!

For the Music Lover:

Spotify, Amazon or Apple music subscription!   I personally use Amazon because it's $7.99/month (with Prime membership) instead of $9.99!  It's really easy to use and they have an extensive library!
